Full Description

PRN 36591 An archaeological watching brief and subsequent excavation along the route of the Silk Willoughby to Staythorpe Gas Pipeline identified a series of undated ditches, gullies and pits. The ditches and gullies were mostly on a north to south alignment and are probably associated with a Romano-British farmstead in the immediate vicinity (PRN 35523). A cluster of undated pits was found immediately beneath topsoil and sub-soil depsoits.An undated hearth in the area has been assigned to the early medieval period (see PRN 36589).{1}{2}.
