Full Description

63667 A possible site of a windmill is located adjacent to the A17. 'Windmill House' is indicated on nineteenth and early twentieth century maps. There are currently no buildings on the site. {1}{2} Trollope mentions Windmill House, which was still standing in 1872. He states that it was built on the site of a public house that had been notorious for its associations with highwaymen. No windmill is mentioned. {3} It seems likely that the windmill that gave Windmill House its name was situated further east where a windmill is marked on the OS first edition map of 1824 (see PRN65802). {2}{4}
