The Swallowbeck Methodist Chapel first appears on the Ordnance Survey Map of 1905. It is likely that the chapel was built just after 1890. {1}
The church appears to have been a place of worship until the late 1970s. The original, Victorian building was demolished and replaced by another, much larger church (the present Swallowbeck Methodist Church). {2}
