Undated ditches on Burgh le Marsh bypass

Type and Period (1)

Protected Status/Designation

  • None recorded

Full Description

PRN 45860 37 trial trenching was undertaken on the proposed Burgh le Marsh bypass prior to development. Three undated ditches were uncovered. They were thought to be boundary ditches. {1} {2} Four ditches, all undated, were recording during a watching brief carried out during construction of the Burgh le Marsh bypass. The features were concentrated over a c. 300m long section at the western end of the new road. Two of the ditches were recorded as being cut into subsoil (ploughsoil?) and might, therefore, be regarded as post medieval in date. {3}{4}
