PRN 63559
19 trial trenches were excavated on land at Fen Road, Ruskington prior to development. Seven sherds of Roman pottery dating to the 2nd to 3rd centuries were uncovered, two of which were recovered from two post holes. The paucity of Roman remains implies that there was a settlement shift away from this area during the Roman era. However, the few finds recovered include sherds of Samian ware, imported ware and a sherd from a Spanish olive oil amphora, indicating a higer status presence. {1} {2}
