Full Description

55134 A chapel was built about 1701 for a Presbytarian congregation formed in the late seventeenth century which later became Unitarian. This was superseded in 1928 by a new chapel in Trinity Street, 700 yards south, which was closed in 1974. The former chapel, now demolished, stood on the west side of Beaumont Street. It is described in the earliest deeds as 'that house or building lately erected in a place called Ratten Row in Gainsborough' and placed in trust for Congregationalists, Independents or Presbyterians. This was a plain building of brick with three round-arched sash windows facing the street, a doorway to the left, and a segmental-arched gallery window in the south wall. The interior had been altered in 1907-09. {1}{2}{3}{4}
