Full Description

The former Primitive Methodist Chapel in Walesby is located on Rasen Road. The first Primitive Methodist in the village was built sometime around 1800, but the building which is depicted as a chapel on the 1906 OS County Series map appears to be a late nineteenth century building. The building is now a house (Chapel House), and has been considerably altered. The original roof-line is still visible in the gable end of the building, which has been raised. The house now has a stone facing on the street frontage. {1}{2}{3} A new Primitive Methodist Chapel was opened in October 1903 on a new site on Rasen Road. It included provision for a Sunday School with sliding shutters to open up the space inside the church to seat 140. The former chapel was nearby as the congregation repaired there for tea after the opening ceremonies. {4} Services ceased at the chapel in about 1970. The building was sold by auction in August 1975 and then converted into a private residence. {5}
