Full Description

The site of the former Newark Union Workhouse at Claypole is marked in this location on the 1st edition 6" Ordannce Survey County Series map. {1} The workhouse was constructed in 1817 and closed in 1913, when the remaining buildings were converted to housing. These buildings were then demolished in 1978. {2}
