Possible Romano-British pottery scatter, Rowston

Type and Period (1)

Protected Status/Designation

  • None recorded

Full Description

PRN 63551 Roman pottery in plenty on these sites. {1} A possible Romano-British pottery scatter said to have been found southwest of Sheffield House Farm, Rowston. On the original (OS Card Index) record, the grid reference is given as TF06635657. However, there was some confusion over the siting, with the scatter (along with other artefacts) later re-sited further south (i.e. at PRN 60360). {1} {3} It is possible that there are, indeed, two distinct Romano-British sites in the immediate area of Sheffield House Farm. However, it is also feasible that the 'separate' areas actually form part of a much more general Romano-British site. {2}
