Full Description
PRN 23931
During trial trenching a substantial structure, constructed from hand made brick was recorded. The structure was not identified on any maps and the depth of brickwork suggests that it was built and used beneath contemporary ground level. It is built in a checkerboard fashion with voids in the brickwork and there is an indication that it was vaulted and there would have been space for an adult to walk upright alongside the structure. Ten sherds of 18th -20th century pottery were recovered together with 20th century refuse. {1}{2}
