PRN 23930 This record includes the now deleted records PRNs 23622, 22380, 23538, 23589 Evaluation at the former school site, TF 2508 2299 (PRN 23930a) Westlode Street, it was found that construction of the school had caused considerable destruction of the archaeological deposits. These deposits had been interpreted as fluvial deposits formed by the River Westlode and dump deposits containing 10th to 14th century pottery. Additionally at the southern end of the site, in an area not destroyed by the school foundations, cut features containing 10th -12th century pottery were located. {1} TF 2510 2292 (PRN 23930b). Two large fragments of Medieval Grimston were found during sewerage operations, near Spalding Fire Station. One is a top of a face jug with two tiers of faces, the other the possible front half of an aquamamile in the form of a ram. {2} Revised NGR by H. Healey. {3} An evaluation of land adjacent to Double Street TF 2505 2287 (PRN 23930c) identified a series of natural alluvial deposits indicating that the area was once prone to flooding either from marine or freshwater inundation and continued as such into the medieval period. Residual pottery dating to the 15th century was found. {4}{5}
