PRN 13808
An archaeological evaluation (trial trenching) was undertaken in advance of residential development on land at Witham Place, Boston. No features dating to before the post-medieval period were identified. The earliest archaeological deposits identified were a series of probable buried topsoil horizons, containing both domestic and building debris indicative of post-medieval occupation of the site. Wall foundations, floor surfaces and build-up levels relating to the construction of 4 and 5 Witham Place were revealed. Built during the Georgian period, the walls identified relate to the rear wall of the houses and accompanying outhouses. On the demolition of the properties in 1963, the site was levelled and became a car park. {1} {2}
