Full Description

63339 A Wesleyan Chapel is located on High Street. The exact location of the building, however, is not certain. It is brick with a hipped slate roof, with a broad front with three sash windows in arched recesses and an entrance right of centre. There is a defaced tablet dated 1841. It was closed in 1964. {1}{2}{3} The former chapel on High Street was visited in 2009. The building on the site indicated on the 1905 OS county Series Map has a date tablet 'Wesleyan Methodist 1841'. The date tablet does not appear defaced and the building differs from the description in the Inventory of Nonconformist Chapels and Meeting Houses in Eastern England. It is a plain red brick gabled building with a slate roof. There are no surviving arched recesses. It has been divided into two houses and completely refenestrated. It had a Sunday School.{4}{5}{6}
