Full Description
The chapel was built in 1827, superseding the former Countess of Huntingdon's chapel, which the New Connexion bought in 1800. A two-storied Sunday school block in red brick was added to the east front in the late nineteenth century. The chapel closed in 1928 and since then has been the site of a cinema and is currently (2003) offices. {1}{2}{3}
The building was altered in the c.1930s, with a new frontage being added, to serve its new function as a cinema. Prior to its conversion, a remark to the Census of Religious Worship in Lincolnshire stated that '… the chapel is rather thinly attended, the building being too vacant and consequently cold.' {4}{5}
