The Island is a cottage, which was formerly two cottages and outbuildings, and is located to the south west of High Street. It was built in the mid-eighteenth century and altered in the early nineteenth century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and brick with a pantile roof. This building may once have been the village smithy although there is some uncertainty over the location of the smithy (see PRN63309). {2}
