Full Description

63266 Nos 1 and 2 The Old Workhouse Cottages are a pair of cottages, reputedly the old workhouse. They were built in 1782, according to a plaque in the north gable, and were constructed using coursed limestone rubble and brick, with a pantile roof. There is also an attached outbuilding. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1} The workhouse was located at "the Navenby end of Sleaford Road" which may be this building although it is not clear. The building was originally two cottages but was knocked into one to form the workhouse, although both doors were kept in order to provide separate entrances for men and women. The building was later converted back into a house. {2}
