Full Description

63255 Wellingore Hall was built around 1750 for the Neville family, with an attached private chapel which is now a Roman Catholic Church of St Augustine. It was extended in about 1800, and again in 1876 by J MacVicar Anderson. The chapel was built in 1878 and rebuilt in 1885 after a fire. The buildings are constructed of limestone ashlar with slate roofs. The gates, gate piers and wall to Wellingore Hall are the subject of a separate listing (1/75) [see PRN 65598]. They date from around 1770 and around 1830, and are constructed of limestone rubble and ashlar. Extant 18th century farmstead. Regular courtyard with L-plan range plus detached buildings to the fourth side of the yard. The farmhouse is attached to a range of working buildings.
