Full Description

An assemblage of over-fired, vitrified and fumed pottery sherds suggestive of pottery production during the late 1st to mid 2nd century AD was found at the New Learning Centre (Lincoln College), Abbey Street, Lincoln. Further evidence of pottery kiln production is suggested by the high presence of flagon sherds in Cream ware, Oxidised White Slipped ware and a higher than average amount of locally produced mortaria - including stamped vessels from ATEPACIVS and VITALIS, two potters known to have been working in the Lincoln College area (see PRN 70378). {1}{2}
