Full Description

PRN 45511 Fluxgate gradiometer and resistivity surveys were undertaken on about 0.24ha of land off New Lane, Toynton St Peter. The work was carried out as part of an archaeological evaluation of the site prior to the construction of a waste water treatment works. The gradiometer survey identified potentially significant archaeological remains; it is possible that at least 5 kiln-like structures lay in the development area. The surveys also detected anomalies corresponding to the positions of a former path and hedge. Relatively strong magnetic variation along the alignment of the path may be indicative of metalling, possibly utilising waste material from the putative kilns. {1}{2}
