An archaeological watching brief was undertaken on land at Tonge's Farm, Norton Disney Quarry, Norton Disney. The watching brief identified two parallel west to east aligned ditches, each terminating about 10m east of the western side of the field and immediately north of the parish boundary (Norton Disney / Thurlby). The fist ditch lay about 18m north of the parish boundary, and was 2m wide. It was shallow, 0.3m deep with a flat base except in the centre where it dipped to 0.40m. The second ditch lay 7m to the north and was 1.5m wide. Neither ditch was traced across the full width of the stripped area, and no dating material was found. Their alignment was similar to that of the parish boundary, but as the feature could be of considerable antiquity, the two short ditches cannot be dated {1} {2}
