Full Description

PRN 23872 During a watching brief a pit dating from the Roman period was recorded. The pit contained burnt bone, fragments of briquetage and a single sherd of Colour Coat ware. A domestic pit, such as this could indicate settlement in the vicinity. The briquetage, which was found together with waste material also associated with salt making, could attest to industrial activity in the area. {1}{2}
