PRN 70341
An archaeological watching brief monitoring the excavation of a new sewer pipe system identified a possible early medieval pond in the trench section adjacent to 150-154 West Parade, Lincoln. The lowest fill had a slightly 'organic' odour and contained frequent charcoal inclusions, animal bone and pottery dating to the 10th century. The pond was sealed by a layer of mid grey clay containing limestone, ironstone and pebble inclusions and appeared to form the backfill of the pond. The possible pond and it's associated fills extended for approximately 6 to 7m east to west, before disappearing {1} {2}
