Full Description

Earthworks of medieval lynchets, to the east of Hagworthingham. Identified on aerial photography examined as part of the National Mapping Programme. {1} The medieval lynchets are cut into a prominent earthwork knoll. Initally thought to be a possible archaeological feature, this knoll was confirmed as being of natural origin when it was partly cut through during road straightening works conducted in 1953. The knoll appeared to be a natural outcropping of Spilsby sandstone, with the medieval lynchets cut across along a roughly north-west to south-east alignment. {2}
