Full Description

PRN23851 An archaeological watching brief conducted on land at Holland Road, Spalding identified a large, sub-rectangular pit measuring 5m long and 0.6m wide. The pit contained a single fill of green silt and contained two sherds of medieval pottery dated to the 13th to 15th century. Although no function could be ascertained, the pit is considerably larger than most refuse pits found in urban contexts and it is possible that it may have been used for an industrial purpose. {1}{2}
