PRN23850
An archaeological watching brief conducted on land at Holland Road, Spalding identified a large, sub-rectangular pit measuring 7.5m wide by 0.42m deep and containing three fills. A fragment of late medieval to early post-medieval roof tile was retrieved from the uppermost fill. Although no function could be ascertained, the pit is considerably larger than most refuse pits found in urban contexts and it is possible that it may have been used for an industrial purpose. {1} {2}
