Full Description
Earthworks of medieval ridge and furrow, to the north-west of Highfield House, Scamblesby. Visible as two adjacent blocks of linear earthworks, with a maximum length of 150m. The western block of ridge and furrow is aligned on a roughly north-west to south-east axis, with the eastern block aligned on a perpendicular north-east to south-west axis, showing a sub-division of the open field system here. Identified on aerial photography examined as part of the National Mapping Programme. {1}
All of the remains appear to have been removed by more recent agricultural activity, and no trace of the former earthworks can now be discerned on the Google Maps satellite imagery layer or on LiDAR data for this area. {2}{3}
