Full Description
PRN 36458
Archaeological evaluation (trial trenching) on land at Baston Quarry identified a number of ditches and gullies belonging to a prehistoric field system. The features included linear and curvilinear ditches, pits, groupings of post holes and a large field boundary ditch. Although no dating evidence was retrieved from these features, their nature and alignments suggest a prehistoric date; previous phases of excavation within the quarry have provided evidence for settlement and agricultural structures dating to the Bronze Age and the Iron Age. {1}{2}
