Full Description

Earthworks of medieval ridge and furrow to the south-east of Partney, identified on aerial photography by the National Mapping Programme. {1} The ridge and furrow field system was noted during geophysical survey, conducted in 2002 along the proposed Partney Bypass route. Earthwork remains in the fields to the immediate north of the route were particularly prominent. {2} The prominent ridge and furrow remains in the field to the immediate north of Field Farm were the subject of a programme of earthwork survey, conducted in December 2015 to inform proposed residential development. The remains in this field were aligned on a roughly east to west axis, with the ridges spaced 7m apart on average, although quite some variation in the width and height of the surviving earthworks was noted. {3}{4}
