Full Description

PRN 44833 A group of north to south, north-west to south-east, and north-east to south-west aligned ditches producing flint implements dating to the late Neolithic / Bronze Age. A single tree bole produced nine flints, including two cores and a core fragment. {1} {2} Two flint scatters, probably caused by tree throws, were observed during a watching brief prior to construction of the Partney by-pass. A small (30 x 10m) area was excavated around the throws. The flints included material probably generated by flint-working in situ, dated to the Mesolithic-early Neolithic period, as well as finished tools of a later (late Neolithic-early Bronze Age) date. Two possible prehistoric ditches were also found near the throws. {3}{4}{5}
