Full Description

PRN 44830 Undated palaeo-channel identified through geophysical survey, auger holes and trial trenching. {1} {2} {3} {4} Excavation prior to the construction of the Partney by-pass revealed seven phases of deposition in the channel from late glacial terrace deposits through several Neolithic deposits to early Bronze Age channel deposits. These show the channel becoming more infilled over the c.1500 year period between the early Neolithic and early Bronze Age. The deposits are well preserved due to a high water table. {5}{6}{7}
