Full Description

PRN 36455 The building is of late medieval origin, although most of the visible fabric is 18th century in date. Some examination was made of the roof above the first floor bedroom. The roof was found to incorporate early timber trusses, reed and plaster flooring and panelling. The building itself is of three storeys and attics with the upper two storeys being stuccoed. The ground floor is constructed of coursed stone and rubble. The building has been much altered since its construction, the kitchen, roof to the utility area and floors in the front room are all probably 20th century in date. The front door is in Georgian style however because of its perfectly placed letter box it is presumed to be dated after 1840 (the establishment of the penny post). {1}{2} For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {3} This house incorporates a late medieval L-shaped house which has been partially rebuilt and enlarged in the 18th and 19th century. The front was was formerly jettied but was underbuilt and refaced in the mid 18th century and further altered around 1800. It has a two storey bay window. {4}
