Full Description

This tower mill was unusual in being hand-winded until the end of its working life. It was built in 1812 on former common land, went out of use in the 1920s and after some gale damage was dismantled in 1923. A wheel at the rear of the cap was used in winding by an endless rope or chain. The four patent sails drove two pairs of grey and one pair of French stones. It was an empty shell by 1942 and now stands derelict with the top few courses of the tower missing.{1} Windmill is not present on the OS digital mapping of 2002 and so has possibly been demolished between 1986 and 2002. {2}
