Full Description

Former rifle range on land to the north-west of Hubbard's Hills. The rnage is depicted on the 1st edition 6" Ordnance Survey County Series map. {1} Earthwork remains of many of the former rifle butts were identified on aerial photography examined as part of the National Mapping Programme. {2} A linear magnetic anomaly, thought to represent the remains of part of a bank associated with the former rifle range, was recorded in November 2014, during geophysical survey for the Louth Flood Alleviation Scheme. The anomaly would suggest that further traces of the former range survive beneath the existing ploughsoil in this area. {3}{4}
