Full Description

Undated linear features were identified during trial trenching as part of an evaluation at East Road, in field 3. Field 2 also revealed a number of linear features, one associated with a pond feature. A number of the evaluation trenches also contained evidence for the small scale clearance of trees. {1}{2} Weak traces of possible linear features and pits were identified during a geophysical survey. These features were insufficient to suggest settlement, and are probably agricultural in origin although their date is unknown. {3} Undated linear features are also visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. Some of these features appear to run parallel to modern field drains. {4} During excavation at the waste transfer site, Pride Parkway in April to June 2012, four parallel dtiches, a possible pit and adjacent posthole were found in Area A, a row of five postholes, a pit and a ditch in Area B, an east to west aligned ditch, five north to south aligned ditches, five postholes, two pits, two north east to south west aligned ditches in Area D and the extension of the ditches from Area B and D in Area E. None of these features could be dated. {5}{6}
