Summary
Undated enclosures first identified in cropmarks, and later in geophysical survey in three areas across Washdyke Farm.
Type and Period (2)
Protected Status/Designation
- None recorded
Full Description
A single undated cropmark enclosure and boundary were noted on aerial photographs taken in the 1980s, however after a scheme of geophysical survey in 2024 in advance of a proposed solar farm, two further areas of similar character were recorded. {2}
All three areas are broadly northeast to southwest aligned with the axis of their trackways seemingly running northwest to southeast. The enclosure systems are somewhat irregular with several straight runs and broadly rectilinear subenclosures. The magnetic response at the centre of the central enclosure is suggestive of high temperature burning.
