Full Description

A mound of unknown date was identified as a cropmark on aerial photographs, examined by the National Mapping Programme. {1} The mound was identified as a low ploughed earthwork in 1979, during field walking on land to the east of Ropsley. No artefacts were recovered from the site, and its date or function remains unclear. It was suggested that the earthwork may represent the remains of a medieval mill mound or Bronze Age barrow, though these interpretations could not be confirmed. {2}
