During a watching brief in 1998, two linear features dated to the nineteenth century were recorded. Their relationship to each other was not determined, but their depths (3.2m and 4.2m) suggest an association with the construction of the railway tunnel beneath Barnack Road, 20m to the south.{1}{2}
