Full Description
PRN 54786
During a watching brief in 1998, a small group of pieces of slag and a pit containing charcoal were recorded, suggesting smithing activity in the vicinity. Slag and pottery found in similar features to the north of the site (PRN 54274) were of sixteenth to eighteenth century date. A disused blacksmiths of probable nineteenth century date is situated on Morton Road which may be the source of the slag finds, although the slag is of earlier date.{1}{2}
