Full Description
The settlement of Coteland was documented during the medieval period. It was located in the parish of Anwick, and possibly in Ruskington. It occurs frequently in Haverholme Priory charters. Saint Benedict owned meadow at Coteland, and Geoffrey Alselin owned meadow and marshland at Coteland at the time of the Domesday Book. There is no record of the population at this time, and there appears to have been no taxable arable land assessed in the Domesday Survey. {1}
