During a watching brief in 1998/1999, four pits were recorded. The small amount of pottery (dated late twelfth to thirteenth century) and animal bone recovered is suggestive of use of the pits for unspecified industrial activity, as more pottery and bone would be expected in domestic rubbish pits.{1}{2}
