Full Description

PRN 13628 During trial trenching structural evidence in the form of tile and plaster was recorded. The structure thought to be of 13th-14th century in date is further supported by evidence that medieval development began here in the 13th-14th century. Brick walls and floor surfaces were recorded suggesting the presence of a brick building, dated to the 14th-15th century. Further walls, pits, ditches and floor surfaces were recorded here, ranging in date from the 13th century to the early medieval period.. There are also indications of light industrial activity being undertaken here. Debris recorded on a floor or yard surface could be suggestive of a post-medieval smithy, although this is tentative as the debris may be part of a flood deposit. {1}{2} See also PRN 12673 During a watching brief at TF3285 4418 a wall was partially exposed, although undated it is though top be medieval. Remains of post-medieval brick foundations were also recorded and clay pipe, brick and tile was recovered from the site. {3}{4}
