Full Description

62444 Half Way House is a mid eighteenth century farmhouse, located on the Fosse Way. It is constructed of brick with a pantile half-hipped roof, and is two storey with five bays. For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1} It was owned in 1809 by Thomas Glasier, and its use as a public house is first mentioned in 1854. However, the magistrates record the Glasiers as licencees of the 'Sir Isaac Newton' public house from 1844 until 1856, and it is therefore assumed that this farm was also the public house. In 1856 the public house was transferred 330 yards down the road to another house (PRN 65265). Half Way House Farm was also used as a polling station between 1832 and 1859. {2}{3}{4} Halfway Farm (Halfway House Farm), Swinderby. Partially extant 18th century farmstead. Loose courtyard with four sides of the courtyard formed by working agricultural buildings. The farmhouse is detached from the main working complex. There has been a partial loss (less than 50%) of traditional buildings. Isolated location. Large modern sheds are located to the side of the site. {5}
