During evaluation excavations as part of the Fenland Management Project, two parallel rows of postholes set 1.5m apart were recorded. Although ostensibly undated, the postholes were dug into the alluvium (which post-dates the early Bronze Age) and were on differing alignments to post-medieval and modern ditches, giving a date somewhere between the Middle Bronze Age and the medieval period. The postholes ran for at least 20m on a north-west/south-east alignment, and are thought to represent an elevated trackway over the wetland.{1}{2}
