Full Description

44460 Described as being 'newly erected' in 1821, this tower mill worked until 1944 when the weather beam broke, continuing by engine for a while after this. It was originally driven by two roller reefing sails and two common sails but ended its life with four patent sails. There were two pairs of stones, one grey and one French. The upper two storeys have been removed and the stump is used as a store. {1}{2} For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {2} The old Mill (Revesby Bank Windmill), Carrington. Partially extant 19th century farmstead. Regular courtyard of U plan. The farmhouse is detached from the main working complex. There has been a partial loss (less than 50%) of traditional buildings. Isolated location. Large modern sheds are located to the side of the site. {3}
