Full Description
62363
A Primitive Methodist Chapel was built in Billinghay in 1850. It burned down on 9th September 1864. {1}{2}
The former chapel still appears to survive in West Street though it could have been rebuilt. It was superseded by a new chapel in High Street in 1912 and is now in use as a store or garden outbuilding. It is a small, simple, gabled building with a pantile roof covering. It originally had a broad three-bay front with a central segmental-headed doorway between two segmental-headed windows, and two segmental-headed windows on the rear elevation, all of which are now blocked. The gable elevation to the street has a flat-headed doorway and a rectangular ashlar tablet above on which 'Primitive Methodist Chapel' can be discerned but it is much eroded and the date is unclear.{3}{4}{5}{6}{7}
