Full Description

62332 A Wesleyan chapel is mentioned in White's Directory of 1856. {1} The site was visited in 2009. The former chapel, built in 1820, survives but it has been much altered and is now in use as a house. It was superseded in 1869 by the chapel on High Street (PRN 62330). The former chapel is built of red brick with a hipped roof, with a covering of modern tiles, and dentil eaves cornices. It has been much altered and refenestrated but it originally had a broad three-bay front. An eroded stone tablet survives 'Methodist Chapel MDCCCXX'. There are traces of two blocked flat-headed windows immediately below the eaves in the south west elevation which may have been gallery windows.{2}{3}{4}{5}
