Full Description

62325 A flat bronze axe with a decorated blade, dating to the Early Bronze Age, was found in 1961 in Walcott. The axe has hammered up side flanges and a fairly well-pronounced stop-ridge. Below this ridge there is a zone of zig-zag decoration, limited on the lower edge by another slight ridge. There are indications that the decoration continued above the stop-ridge, but the marks are slight. Flat axes with decorated blades are rare in Lincolnshire. {1}{2}{3}{4}{5}{6}
