Full Description

Former 19th century bridge crossing the River Witham at St Catherine's Road. The bridge was of shallow arch construction with a brick arch and abutments and attractive cast iron railings. The arch had a span of 20ft and the width over the parapets was 30ft. The arch was constructed of three rows of brick voussoirs and there was engineering brick decoration on the abutments. The railings carried a maker's plate showing that they were cast by 'Wilson and Son, Castlegate Foundry, Grantham'. The bridge was demolished and replaced in 1977. {1}
