Full Description

PRN 35613 During a watching brief a large ditch was identified. This was possibly an open sewer or drain. A large quantity of animal remains were recovered from it, suggesting that butchery or tanning was taking place in the vicinity. Quantities of 18th-19th century pottery sherds and tile were also recovered from this site. {1}{2} A watching brief centered at TF1034 1977 revealed a rectangular pit containing 19th century artefacts: clay pipe, bone, pottery sherds and building meterials. A possible pond was also recorded, and from this waterlogged wood and a 17th-19th century pottery was recovered, the earliest on the site. Unstratified pottery sherds of 18th-19th century date was recovered from across the site. {3}{4}
