Linwood Hall was located on the site of the medieval settlement of Cotes and the medieval grange of Linwood. It was formerly known as Linwood Grange, but the name was changed at a late date perhaps in the eighteenth century. The house was demolished in 1935. It was referred to by Trollope as 'an old Jacobean house'. {1}{2}{3}
A documentary reference reveals that John Wright, who had been Rector of Edmonthorpe in Leicestershire, became a Presbyterian Minister under the patronage of Lady Bury at Linwood in Blankney parish who licensed her house at Linwood Grange. A license was held here in the late 17th century and a license was also held for John Wright's home in Leasingham.{4}
